My little magician loved it. We had several magic hats in the past. This was the only real one - the others were cheap fabric/cloth hats. Those fabric hats, at first, appear to be a good idea in that they are light weight and collapsible - but they are really terrible - the spring in them are a danger and you can often see the trick through the hat. The secret compartments in those fabric hats are typically too small and hard for a child to manage. What we like about this Ultimate Hat are the following:
1. Harder plastic - this will last forever and looks like the real thing.
2. The hat is heavier and sturdy - again, it's all quality. This is more like what the pros use.
3. Large secret compartment - easy for the kids to handle. The black tape is cleverly used to disguise the hinges.
4. You get a real - plush puppet rabbit - not some little fake foam rabbit that comes in other sets.
5. We enjoyed all the other tricks. But the hat and rabbit is the ultimate prize.
6. DVD - makes it easy. I suggest you also go on you-tube and see other kids perform. This adds to the education.
In summary, this is well worth the extra money. It'll last forever and your child will enjoy all the tricks. They made it easy.
